Reunion attendees had been discussing the group's formation since before the 2017 Reunion in Rosslyn, Virginia.
During the 2017 Reunion business meeting, Chris Adams presented ideas from a "Planning Group" around forming
a new organization for the future, tentatively identified as the "416th Bomb Group Heritage Association".
After Chris' talk, there was a fair bit of discussion among the audience and when a vote was taken whether
to form the new organization, the response was unanimously YES.
Kathe Rensner volunteered to look into creating a Non-Profit organization to begin moving forward.
Kathe presented her research and findings during the 2018 Reunion business meeting.
The committee she heads decided on a group name called: "Friends of the 416th Bomb Group" and
based on her research, determined there will not be an initiative to create a formal Non-Profit organization at this time.
The "Friends of the 416th Bomb Group" will concentrate in the near term assisting volunteer
hosts or hosting future reunions when a volunteer can't be found. Kathe is designated the
Reunion Advisor for the group. In the future the group will also expand to include outreach
to family, friends and others encouraging their participation with the Friends of the 416th BG.
