The above list was originally compiled based on information in Ralph Conte's book "
Attack Bombers, We Need You! A History of the 416th Bomb Group
", and subsequently updated and expanded based on review of scanned copies of the original 416th Bombardment Group (L) documents available from the
Air Force Historical Research Agency (AFHRA) at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
Thank you to the many individuals and organizations who have assisted in numerous ways in enhancing and expanding the information available for this site.
Many of the document images (Field Orders, Loading Lists, Routes, etc.) displayed in the individual mission pages were made available by the
AFHRA. The
Air Force History Index.org page provides a searchable online index to their holdings, click

Additional photos, documents and/or information were graciously provided by numerous others, please see the

Information in the "Group and Unit Histories" section of individual mission pages was extracted from the following sources. Other than Ralph Conte's book, the complete Group and Squadron/Unit history sources are available elsewhere on this site as linked. Most of these Group and Squadron/Unit histories were originally transcribed to digital form by Jane Enman from surviving hard copies or archived microfilm copies. Most have been subesquently updated and expanded based on review of AFHRA scanned copies of the original 416th Bombardment Group (L) mission documents.
